The jackscrew nut can be an effective tensioning device, but following the proper procedures for installation makes it very difficult and time consuming.

In order to achieve accurate tension with a jackscrew nut it is required to follow a bolting pattern in at least three increments. This means that each jackscrew must be tightened at least three times following a complex pattern which ensures that there is no side load applied to the bolt. This can be very complicated and require a significant amount of time per nut.
