(OSHA Training Institute Course 7011) communicates the latest bolting techniques and approved safety standards, all geared to the first line mechanics, millwrights, pipefitters, ironworkers and their immediate supervisors. As an approved OSHA course it fits in with plant Voluntary Protection (VPP) Programs and ensures that workers have been "qualified" to safely perform their complex and often risky work.
This course is designed to be given on-site to groups of 10-15 persons at a time. Sessions last 8 hours and focus on one of three tracks which correspond to the three basic kinds of industrial bolting:
Track 1 focuses on gasketed flange joints in such industries as:
Track 2 deals with machine connections where the goal is alignment and stability of component parts in larger mechanical assemblies. Examples of industries where mechanical joints prevail are :
Track 3 treats the principles of long-term joint reliability in such structures as buildings, bridges and towers where joints are permanently assembled under maximum loads. Special emphasis is given to the accountability procedures associated with this safety-centered type of bolting.
